A degree graduate of English as a Second Language (ESL), Victoria Poe has worked over 15 years with ESL learners. Working with the business community, she has coordinated training programs and professional associations to access internationally trained professionals. She has developed ESL courses in Canada and abroad, including curricula for technical English and for students.

Such a service is necessary considering that an aging workforce approaching retirement, coupled with smaller Canadian families and a declining birth rate means that in another 10 years Canada's pool of labour could be entirely dependent upon immigration for growth. Career and settlement services to the immigrant population is important for feeding various employment sectors (especially trade skills) and supports accessing internationally trained professionals in Canada.
Ms. Poe has extensive experience teaching ESL in Canada and abroad. She has developed curricula in a variety of contexts from Business Technical English for Internationally Trained Professionals (LINC 4/5) to Ecuadorian students.
